The City’s Social City unit works to build resilient and thriving communities by providing welcoming, safe, and inclusive programs, services and spaces where all people can connect, learn and find resources and support on Gadigal Land.
The City of Sydney is looking for a passionate and experienced manager to lead a newly created team, Aboriginal City Spaces. Work with us to consult and communicate strategically for a range of programs and services focused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- to be a person of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and recognised in the community as such. Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-discrimination Act 1977
- lived experience or knowledge of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, cultural knowledge and insight into the complexity and needs of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
- leadership skills, management experience and experience in leading teams through change
- experience in developing and delivering new models of integrated community facilities and programs
- experience in or ability to develop appropriate governance models for the management of culturally appropriate community facilities
- experience with developing programs through community consultation that promote and support community participation and outcomes.
